Uttoxeter Rugby club was formed in 1982 when JCB Rugby
club began to play its games at Oldfields sport and social club in Uttoxeter establishing the first rugby side in the town
traditionally associated with football. In those days there was no league structure in place nationally so Uttoxeter played
"friendly" fixture and developed great rivalries with other local sides including Rugeley and Cannock to name two which have
endured over the last 20 years.
Many fine players have worn the Uttoxeter shirt, to many
to be named they all know who they are, these people have given Uttoxeter RFC the fine history we have today which includes
the Staffordshire League and Owen Cup both won on more than one occasion.
In past seasons Uttoxeter have played some great attacking
rugby in all age groups from the young to the old (Gordon the mullet Richardson) who still managers to defy time.
Its not only the senior rugby that needs to be mentioned
but the people who give there time up on Sunday mornings to help coach the juniors without these people we would not have
our players of the future.
Its not only on the field where improvements have been
made over the last 20 years but also within in Oldfields sports & social club who have invested heavily to improve the
club changing facilities and club house. All this would be for nothing if was not for Bernard and Beryl who provide and excellent
service managing the club house and working behind the bar, providing a great atmosphere for all players and supporters.
All this could not be done without the help of all our
sponsors such as Vital Business, John Sewell Garages, Gunpoint, http://pm-sports.co.uk/ and many more.
The Club and committee would like to wish all the teams
within Uttoxeter RFC the best next season.
